In an attempt to keep collecting fun for me and to let me try to write a little I decided to start a new collection-- and to write about it as I build it.  First some rules-I had to actually build the binder as I write.  So having the card available was a necessity--and since the only cards I have that aren't already in a binder or a set are my dup box cards I figured I could start there.  So my title was born!!

BINDER PAGE 1--Slot #4 1973-74 Topps Hockey #168 Steve Durbano

12/10/2018

Hockey- a fast sport played by amazing athletes balancing on skates-- why would you pick an action shot of a hockey player knocked off his skates?  It was Steve's only action shot-- he had a portrait in the '74-'75 set.  Wonder if he proudly displays his RC or wishes it away?

BINDER PAGE 1--Slot #3 1966 Topps Baseball Frank Malzone #152 (Red Sox variation)

12/10/2018

Found this beauty when I was upgrading-- I noticed that my upgraded version had the Angels as the team so I thought it must be a variation.  None listed anywhere???  Upon closer inspection this was a homemade "traded" version...or in this case a case of hoping Frank didn't leave the Red Sox as a free agent version!!  This is the kind of card I love-- one of a kind by the hands of a true fan!!!

BINDER PAGE 1--Slot #2 1958 Topps Football Lamar McHan #68

11/28/2018

Found this one in my football stack.  It was one of the last '59s I got for my full set.  I love the look of the solid linemen and the jump pass from Lamar.  Not often you see that!  At 6'1' he would have needed to do a lot more of that in today's game.  One of my favorite football cards of all time!!

BINDER PAGE 1--Slot #1 1972-73 Topps NBA Jim Barnett Golden State Warriors Card #71

11/17/2018

The card is a recent duplicate for one of my recently started basketball sets.  The short shorts-the knee high socks are only the start of my enjoyment of this card!  Not quite sure if the pose was Jim's idea or the photographer's but it made me chuckle.  Does he have to use the bathroom?  Afraid of a groin strike?  A failed attempt at the Heisman pose?  Who knows..Jim does look happy in any case.
